Backflow Prevention

Backflow is the reversal of the normal directional flow of water supply within a plumbing system. When the delivery main is at a lower pressure than the internal plumbing system, backflow (back siphonage) occurs. This may be caused by a ruptured water main or during excessive demand periods. Alternatively, it may occur if a water pump (such as a bore pump), is cross connected to the internal water plumbing system and is pumping bore water at a higher pressure than the water main pressure. Water backflow can cause potentially polluted water to gain access to your drinking water supply system.

Backflow incidents can be serious and without the installation of authorised prevention devices, you could be subject to imposed penalties. Local/Regional Councils require backflow prevention devices to be installed by licensed plumbers and have annual testing, which then must be formally reported through to the relevant department. Let our team relieve the stress of your backflow concerns with our prompt and professional testing and prevention services.  Our team of licensed plumbers at Alexander Gas and Plumbing Co., will install top quality devices and conduct annual testing to report to the appropriate authorities.
